When in Doubt, Kitchen Dance

Sometimes you don’t need to solve the day.

You don’t need a better plan, a colder room, the perfect outfit or another productivity hack.

Sometimes you just need to stop.

Yesterday, after hours of working in the heat, feeling sticky, tired, uncomfortable and thoroughly fed up, a good song came on while I was standing in the kitchen.

So I danced.

Not well. Not for anyone else. Just because I needed to let something out.

And honestly, it changed everything.

The room was still hot. I was still sweaty. The work was still there. Nothing had actually been fixed.

But I felt lighter.

I think we forget how important it is to find a release. To let ourselves be silly, move, sing, cry, walk, shout into a pillow, sit quietly, or do whatever helps us come back to ourselves.

Kitchen dancing was mine.

Yours might be something completely different.

But when it all feels too much, let yourself stop fighting it for a minute.

Let go.

You might still be uncomfortable.

But you will be okay.
